The internet-famous Doge meme dog, Kabosu, has passed away at the age of 18 after battling leukemia and liver disease. The sad news was revealed by Kabosu’s owner, Atsuko Sato, in an emotional Instagram post on Friday, May 24.

In the heartfelt post, Sato expressed her gratitude to all those who had loved and supported Kabosu over the years. She described Kabosu as the happiest dog in the world and herself as the happiest owner. The post also mentioned that Kabosu passed away peacefully, surrounded by love and warmth.

Following the announcement of Kabosu’s passing, Sato organized a farewell party to honor her loyal companion. Kabosu, a Shiba Inu rescue dog, rose to fame in 2010 after a picture of her crossing her paws on a sofa went viral on social media. She became one of the first pioneers in the world of memes and eventually became the face of Dogecoin cryptocurrency.

The Dogecoin community released a statement mourning the loss of Kabosu, calling her a shared friend and inspiration whose impact on the world was immeasurable. Despite her internet fame, Kabosu was described by Sato as a gentle and calm dog who loved being photographed.

Kabosu’s passing has left a void in the hearts of her fans and followers, but her legacy as a beloved internet sensation and meme icon will continue to live on.
