Kamala Harris Accuses Trump of Gaslighting America Over Abortion Views

Vice President Kamala Harris delivered a fiery speech in Arizona, accusing former President Donald Trump of attempting to roll back women’s rights to the 1800s and gaslighting America over his abortion views. Harris pointed to Trump’s support for abortion restrictions and his appointment of conservative Supreme Court justices as key factors leading to the recent decision by the Arizona Supreme Court to uphold a near-total abortion ban with no exceptions for rape or incest.

Harris warned the crowd that a second Trump term could result in a nationwide abortion ban, despite Trump’s recent assurances that he would not sign such a bill into law. The Biden administration has been vocal in linking Trump and a potential second term to the wave of abortion restrictions being implemented across the country post-Roe v. Wade.

While Trump has offered mixed messages on abortion since the Arizona ruling, he has stated that he would not sign a national abortion ban and called on Arizona lawmakers to bring the state’s abortion policies back to a reasonable level. However, in a video posted on Truth Social, Trump also claimed responsibility for the demise of Roe v. Wade in 2022.

The battle over abortion rights continues to be a contentious issue in the United States, with at least 21 states now banning or restricting abortion earlier in pregnancy than the standard set by Roe v. Wade. Harris’s speech in Arizona is just the latest in a series of efforts by the Biden administration to push back against the erosion of reproductive rights in the country.
