Kannadigas Helpline Team Offers Assistance to Those Impacted by Heavy Rainfall in UAE | Mangaluru News

A group of NRIs in Mangaluru have come together to provide aid to those affected by the devastating floods in the UAE, particularly in Dubai and Sharjah. The UAE experienced its heaviest rainfall in history on April 16, leading to severe flooding in low-lying areas and disrupting the lives of many residents.

Over two lakh vehicles were damaged, with around 2,000 cars left stranded on the road connecting Dubai and Sharjah. The situation in Sharjah is dire, with road cleaning efforts expected to take up to a week and more rain forecasted for the coming days.

Hidayath Addoor from the International Kannadigas Federation shared, “Families are facing challenges with access to basic necessities such as food, water, and medicine, along with health issues like diarrhoea and vomiting among children in some areas.” In response to these urgent needs, the Kannadigas Helpline team has sprung into action, working in collaboration with the Indian Consulate-Dubai.

The team has been actively involved in relief efforts, distributing food, water, and essential supplies to distressed Kannadigas and foreigners affected by the floods. They have also coordinated meals for municipal workers and provided assistance to stranded motorists.
