Kathy Taylor, former Tulsa Mayor, to retire as Dean of TU’s Business School

Former Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor announced her retirement as the dean of the University of Tulsa’s Collins College of Business, effective in May after the university’s commencement. Taylor, who has been serving as the Genave King Rogers Dean since July 2021, has been instrumental in the growth and development of the college.

Under Taylor’s leadership, the Collins College of Business has seen increased enrollment, improved retention rates, and advancements in research and scholarship. Taylor expressed gratitude for the support of the college community and optimism for its future success.

During Taylor’s tenure, the college established three new interdisciplinary centers, including the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Center for Energy Studies, and Center for Real Estate Studies. Additionally, the Hurricane Venture Fund was launched, raising millions to invest in student, faculty, and alumni start-up businesses.

Taylor, a seasoned business executive and corporate attorney, has a track record of transformative change in both the public and private sectors. She is known for her advocacy for education, entrepreneurship, diversity, equity, and inclusion.

TU President Brad Carson praised Taylor’s contributions to the university, highlighting her business acumen and vast connections that have benefited students and alumni. The university will now begin a national search for the next dean of the business college.
