The latest episode of “American Idol” brought out the competitive spirit in the judges as they faced off in the Judge’s Song Contest. Katy Perry, Luke Bryan, and Lionel Richie selected songs for the Top 8 contestants to perform, with Perry ultimately emerging as the winner.

Perry’s winning streak continued as singers Kaibrienne, McKenna Faith Breinholt, Jack Blocker, and Emmy Russell chose her musical selections, which included songs from Willie Nelson to Olivia Rodrigo. However, it was Russell’s emotional performance of “Coal Miner’s Daughter” by Loretta Lynn that truly touched Perry’s heart.

Moved to tears by Russell’s tribute to her grandmother, Perry praised the contestant for her powerful rendition. As the winner of the Judge’s Song Contest, Perry also had the power to save one of the bottom two singers from elimination. She chose Breinholt, who delivered a moving cover of “Everywhere I Go” by Lissie.

Despite their best efforts, Kaibrienne fell short of earning a spot in the Top 6, with the addition of Judge’s Save pick Breinholt making it a Top 7. The remaining contestants include Will Moseley, Jack Blocker, Abi Carter, Julia Gagnon, Triston Harper, Emmy Russell, and McKenna Faith Breinholt.

Stay tuned for more updates on “American Idol” as the competition heats up and the contestants battle it out for the title of music’s next superstar.
