Kearsarge Boys Tennis Team Wins Semifinal, Advances to Third Consecutive Final Against Plymouth

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The Kearsarge Cougars are on a mission to reclaim the NHIAA Division III boys’ tennis championship title as they gear up for a rematch against the undefeated Plymouth Bobcats. After defeating the St. Thomas Saints 7-2 in the semifinals, the Cougars are ready to face their familiar foe in the championship match.

This will be the third consecutive meeting between Kearsarge and Plymouth in the D-III final. Plymouth secured their first program title in 2022 with a 6-3 victory, while Kearsarge emerged victorious last year with a 5-4 win in the championship match.

Junior Liam Miller showcased his mental toughness in the semifinals, coming back from an early deficit to win his No. 2 singles match. With strong performances from players like Eli Whipple, Thomas Shepherd, Billy Reid, and Andrew Zielinski, the Cougars secured a 5-1 lead heading into the doubles matches.

Coach Lynn Miller emphasized the importance of playing better and being more mentally tough against Plymouth, especially after suffering their only loss of the season to them earlier. The Cougars are focused on improving their performance in both singles and doubles matches to have a shot at defeating the Bobcats in the championship.

As the Cougars aim to secure their fourth straight finals appearance, all eyes will be on their matchup against Plymouth for the ultimate showdown on Thursday at Concord’s Memorial Field.
