Kelly Rowland made headlines at the Cannes Film Festival after appearing to admonish an usher on the red carpet. The incident occurred as Rowland was making her way up the stairs at the premiere of “Marcello Mio,” a film in competition at the festival.

In a video that surfaced online, an usher can be seen beckoning Rowland to start walking up the stairs at the Palais des Festivals. As Rowland ascends the stairs, a group of ushers form a barrier around her, directing her to the right side of the staircase. Despite Rowland turning to wave at someone in the crowd, the ushers continue to guide her up the stairs.

At one point, Rowland touches the usher’s outstretched arm with a smile, seemingly indicating that it’s not necessary for them to be so close. However, the usher persists in holding her arm aloft, prompting Rowland to turn and appear to admonish her.

The Cannes Film Festival is known for its strict red carpet policies, including a dress code that once banned women from wearing flats. The festival also implemented a ban on selfies on the red carpet in 2018 to speed up the flow of guests entering the Palais.

Representatives for Rowland did not respond to requests for comment on the incident. Despite the altercation, Rowland continued into the Palais for the premiere, leaving the incident behind her on the red carpet.
