Keweenaw Roller Derby Hosts Exciting Solar System Smackdown Event

Roller Derby Season kicked off in the Keweenaw with an exciting match between the Big Bangers and the Wormhole Warriors at the Calumet Colosseum. The 10th annual Solar System Smackdown brought together derby skaters from across the galaxy for a thrilling invitational bout.

The Wormhole Warriors took an early lead, dominating the first half with an 80-44 score. However, the Big Bangers came back strong in the second half, outscoring their opponents 79-77. Despite their efforts, the Warriors maintained their lead and secured a 157-123 victory.

The atmosphere was electric as fans cheered on their favorite teams and enjoyed halftime entertainment, including a dancing show and the Whip-A-Wheel competition. Both teams displayed excellent sportsmanship and camaraderie, with MVPs chosen from each squad.

The MVP Jammer for the Wormhole Warriors was Random NPC, praised for their speed and agility, while PenaltyFoxx was recognized as the MVP Blocker for their fierce defense. The Big Bangers honored StefLeppard as their MVP Jammer and Arm&Slam’er as their MVP Blocker.

With tickets priced at just $5 and free entry for kids under 10, Roller Derby bouts offer affordable entertainment for all. The KRD squad will face off against Grand Raggidy Roller Derby next, aiming to bounce back from a tough loss in their previous match.
