Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, has made history by becoming the first member of the Royal Family to be recognized as a companion of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, the Order of the Companions of Honour. This prestigious award is one of the highest royal honors in the United Kingdom.

King Charles III personally conferred this honor to Kate Middleton, acknowledging her “outstanding” public service. The King even created a special role of Royal Companion within the Order specifically for his daughter-in-law, whom he holds in high regard.

The Order of the Companions of Honour, founded in 1917 by King George V, recognizes the work of citizens in the arts, sciences, medicine, and public service. Only 60 members can belong to the Order at any time, and honorees bear the initials CH by their name. The motto of the Order is “In action faithful and in honor clear.”

In addition to Kate Middleton’s recognition, Prince William has been named the Great Master of the Order of the Bath for his exceptional service in both military and civilian capacities. This order, established in the 18th century, symbolizes honor for exemplary contributions to the nation.
