The Negaunee Invite showcased some impressive performances from the Kingsford and West Iron County boys varsity tennis teams over the weekend. Despite Negaunee’s strong season, the Flivvers and Wykons held their own and secured third and fourth place finishes, respectively.
Kingsford’s Landon Adam had a standout performance at No. 2 singles, finishing in second place after a tough match against Negaunee’s Tyler Lajimediere. Adam also secured wins against opponents from Escanaba and West Iron County.
The Flivvers also had strong showings in No. 4 singles, No. 2 doubles, and No. 4 doubles, with players like Evan Grymes, Eli Wallis, Hunter Hulkkonen, Ben Cook, and Gavin Strong bringing home third place finishes in their respective categories.
West Iron County’s James White impressed at No. 4 singles, ultimately finishing in second place after a hard-fought final match. The Wykons also had third place finishes in No. 1 singles, No. 2 singles, and No. 1 doubles, with players like Caleb Strom, Zander Birmingham, Colton Holm, and Drew Alexa showcasing their skills on the court.
Overall, the Negaunee Invite was a display of talent and determination from all participating teams, setting the stage for an exciting remainder of the season.
