In an exciting turn of events at the District Tennis meet in Atlantic, Kinnick Juhl and Nolan Waters of Atlantic emerged as the dark horses of the competition. Seeded third, the Trojan duo managed to upset the second-seeded pair of Lucas Sun and Seth Zwickel from Shenandoah, securing a spot in the district final. Despite falling short to the number one seeded Kayden Anderson and Brody Taylor, Juhl and Waters earned a well-deserved runner-up position and a ticket to the state tourney.
According to Atlantic Head Coach Mike McDermott, the key to Juhl and Waters’ success was their aggressive play on the court. Despite not having much experience playing together recently, the duo’s chemistry and determination shone through in their matches.
In addition to Juhl and Waters’ impressive performance, other members of the Atlantic team also showcased their skills. Nick Bennett secured a hard-fought victory in the singles category, while Connor Johnson and Reid Woodward displayed their prowess in doubles.
Coach McDermott expressed pride in his team’s overall performance, stating that it was a good day for Atlantic boys’ Tennis. With their strong showing at the district meet, the Atlantic team is poised for success as they head to the State Meet, ready to take on the top competitors in the state.
