The Kolkata Knight Riders’ final practice session ahead of the IPL 2024 final was abruptly cut short due to a sudden spell of rain. The team was gearing up for their marquee clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad when the heavens opened up, forcing the players to seek shelter indoors.
The groundsmen managed to cover the pitch designated for the final match, which is expected to be played on a red soil track. This composition is anticipated to provide better batting conditions compared to the black soil track used in the second qualifier.
Gautam Gambhir, the mentor of KKR, known for his meticulous inspection of pitches, spent a significant amount of time analyzing the strip allocated for the final. He was accompanied by head coach Chandrakant Pandit and bowling coach Bharat Arun.
The rain interruptions proved to be a frustrating start-stop affair for the team, with the groundsmen having to repeatedly cover and uncover the pitch. Despite no official forecast of rain on the day of the final, there is a minor threat due to Cyclone Remal’s activity in the Bay of Bengal.
Fortunately, a reserve day is in place in case of a washout, with favorable weather conditions expected. Fans are eagerly awaiting the highly anticipated final showdown between KKR and SRH, hoping for an exciting and uninterrupted match.
