KKR to purchase Healthium from Apax Funds

KKR Acquires Healthium Medtech Ltd. from Apax Partners

MUMBAI, India, May 06, 2024 – KKR, a global investment firm, has announced the acquisition of Healthium Medtech Ltd. from Apax Partners. Healthium is a leading Indian medical devices company known for its high-quality surgical products.

Founded in 1992, Healthium has a wide range of surgical products that cater to the needs of surgeons worldwide. Under the ownership of Apax Partners since 2018, Healthium has transformed into a global medical devices leader, expanding its presence from 50 countries to over 90.

Anish Bafna, CEO of Healthium, expressed gratitude to Apax for their support in accelerating the company’s growth over the past five years. He highlighted that Healthium’s products are now used in one out of every five surgeries globally.

KKR’s investment in Healthium marks its latest venture in the healthcare sector in India and the Asia Pacific region. The acquisition is expected to further strengthen Healthium’s position in the market and accelerate its growth through organic and inorganic strategies.

Anish Tanna, Partner and Head of India Private Equity at KKR, emphasized the company’s commitment to leveraging its global network and healthcare expertise to drive Healthium’s growth in the fast-growing medical devices sector.

Steven Dyson, Partner at Apax, commended Healthium’s growth journey and expressed confidence in KKR’s ability to support the company’s expansion into a global diversified MedTech platform.

The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and is anticipated to close in the third quarter of 2024. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.

Healthium’s vision is to provide “Access to precision medtech for every patient, globally,” and it operates in 90 countries, with one in five surgeries globally using its products.

KKR, known for its alternative asset management and capital markets solutions, aims to generate attractive investment returns by supporting growth in its portfolio companies. Apax Partners, a global private equity advisory firm, has a long history of inspiring growth and transforming businesses.
