Lucknow Super Giants emerged victorious in a thrilling encounter against Mumbai Indians in the 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) on Tuesday. Marcus Stoinis played a crucial knock of 62 runs off 45 balls, supported by Nicholas Pooran’s calm finish, to chase down MI’s total of 144/7 in 20 overs. KL Rahul’s steady start with 28 runs off 22 balls helped LSG secure the win and move up to the third spot in the IPL standings.

MI struggled in the powerplay, losing four wickets early on, but managed to put up a fight with contributions from Nehal Wadhera, Ishan Kishan, and Tim David. However, their top-order misfired, resulting in a low powerplay score. Despite a late surge from Tim David, MI fell short as LSG’s bowlers kept the pressure on.

In response, Stoinis led the charge with a well-paced innings, hitting seven boundaries and two maximums. Although his dismissal brought some tension to the chase, LSG eventually crossed the finish line with four balls to spare. With this win, LSG secured their sixth victory in 10 games, while MI suffered their seventh loss in the tournament.

Meanwhile, in the race for the Orange Cap, Virat Kohli continues to lead with 500 runs, followed by Ruturaj Gaikwad, Sai Sudharsan, and now KL Rahul in fourth place with 406 runs. Despite facing setbacks in his T20 World Cup aspirations, Rahul’s contribution in the match proved vital for LSG’s success.
