Klusener: Batters in IPL have evolved faster than bowlers

Lucknow Super Giants assistant coach Lance Klusener has attributed the frequent high team totals in the ongoing Indian Premier League to the rapid evolution of batters. Klusener expressed his views after LSG’s recent loss to Rajasthan Royals, highlighting the lackluster bowling performances in the tournament.

According to Klusener, the bowlers have been underperforming, especially in the death overs, allowing batsmen to capitalize and score quick runs. He emphasized the need for better execution of yorkers, stating that bowlers have been relying too much on variations rather than mastering the art of delivering yorkers effectively.

Despite acknowledging the flat pitches and lack of swing, Klusener stressed the importance of combining all aspects of the game to achieve success in the competition. He emphasized the need for consistency in batting, bowling, and fielding to progress further in the tournament.

Klusener also commented on the impact player rule in the IPL, expressing his personal preference for a traditional 11-player format. However, he acknowledged the effectiveness of the rule in adding entertainment and strategic elements to the game.

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals’ pace bowler Avesh Khan highlighted the team’s need to improve their bowling skills during overs 6 to 16. Despite a strong start in the powerplay, Rajasthan’s bowlers struggled to maintain pressure, allowing LSG’s batsmen to build a substantial partnership.
