Hydropower Company Becomes Latest Business to Relocate to Knoxville

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — The city of Knoxville welcomed a new addition to its business community with the ribbon-cutting ceremony for NuSTREEM, a hydroelectric equipment manufacturer. The company, known for its small turbine generator that produces clean and efficient energy from water, recently relocated to Knox County after Mesa Associates, a management firm based in Knoxville, acquired its assets.

Tim Ramsey, Senior Vice President for Mesa Associates, highlighted the company’s focus on clean energy production and the engineering expertise provided by Mesa Technologies. Knox County Mayor Glenn Jacobs expressed his excitement about NuSTREEM’s move to the area, citing the region’s strong ties to the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) and its reputation for innovation and technology.

Mayor Jacobs also emphasized the potential economic benefits for local vendors who could supply parts for NuSTREEM’s turbines. He mentioned the opportunity for collaboration with TVA and other utilities, as well as the convenience of being geographically close to major population centers on the East Coast.

Ramsey echoed Mayor Jacobs’ sentiments, expressing optimism about the company’s growth potential in Knoxville. He highlighted the room for expansion and the plan to engage local suppliers and vendors for various components and sub-assemblies.

Overall, NuSTREEM’s relocation to Knoxville represents a significant investment in the region’s clean energy sector and a promising opportunity for local businesses to contribute to the company’s success. With a focus on sustainability and innovation, NuSTREEM is poised to make a positive impact on the Knoxville business community.
