Belarusian former professional ice hockey player Konstantin Koltsov’s tragic death in Miami has left many questioning the circumstances surrounding his passing. While police have labeled it as an “apparent suicide”, his ex-wife Yulia Mikhailova believes it was an accident, suggesting he may have been intoxicated at the time.

According to reports, Koltsov was found dead at a hotel in Miami, where he was supporting his girlfriend, tennis star Aryna Sabalenka, during the Miami Open. Police responded to a call about a man jumping off a balcony at the St Regis Bal Harbour Resort, leading to the discovery of Koltsov’s body.

Mikhailova has expressed disbelief at the idea of Koltsov taking his own life, pointing to his behavior and plans prior to his death as evidence. She mentioned finding empty alcohol bottles in his room and discovering that he had booked different apartments and rented a car for an extended period.

Despite the tragic loss, Sabalenka has decided to continue playing in the Miami Open, where she will face her close friend Paula Badosa. Badosa, acknowledging the difficult situation, expressed her support for Sabalenka and hopes for a competitive match.

The news of Koltsov’s death has undoubtedly shaken those close to him, with his ex-wife highlighting the impact on their three sons. As the investigation into his death continues, the circumstances surrounding the beloved athlete’s passing remain unclear.
