Korean companies are making strides in localizing the production of green technologies in Uzbekistan, as part of a collaborative effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. In a recent meeting between Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance and Korean companies, plans were discussed to introduce modern heat pumps in various social facilities across the country, including hospitals, greenhouses, and multi-story residential and non-residential buildings.

The meeting was attended by representatives from the Green Economy Development Department of Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Korean Institute of Climate Change (KICC), Korea Investment and Securities (KIS), and Korea Western Power. The project, which could potentially be a first in Uzbekistan, is also considering a pilot project in Urgench, located in the Khorezm region.

The trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Korea has been on the rise, reaching $544.1 million from January through March 2024. This includes exports to Korea amounting to $10.9 million and imports totaling $533.2 million during the same period.

In addition to green technology initiatives, South Korea is also exploring cooperation with Uzbekistan to meet its annual need for 3,000 automotive workers. This collaboration aims to strengthen the automotive sector in both countries, with the Korea Automobile Industry Association highlighting the need for skilled workers during recent discussions.

Overall, these partnerships between Korean companies and Uzbekistan are paving the way for sustainable development and economic growth in the region. Follow Daryo’s official Instagram and Twitter pages for more updates on this evolving story.
