Krachi East Municipal Chief Executive laid to rest

The late Bernard Aborkugya Mensah, former Krachi East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), was laid to rest at a public cemetery in Dambai, the Oti Regional capital, after passing away on April 5, 2024, at the age of 62.

Mourners from various political parties and institutions gathered to pay their respects at a requiem mass held at the English Arabic School Park. Tributes poured in, with many highlighting Mensah’s dedication to his work and his gentle personality.

Mr. Michael Yaw Gyato, the parliamentary candidate of the NPP, Krachi East Constituency, praised Mensah for his diligence and hard work, noting that he was an inspiration to many in the community.

Mr. Nkrumah Akwasi Ogyile, the Krachi Nchumuru District Chief Executive, expressed the loss felt by the municipal and district chief executives, as Mensah was the second colleague they had lost in less than four years.

DSP (Rtd) Daniel Machator, the Oti Regional Minister-designate, shared his interactions with Mensah and expressed hope that Mensah’s experience would have brought positive results to the region.

Notable figures present at the funeral included Nana Mprah Besemuna III, Nana Kwaku Beyennor II, Nana Odami Gyamfi, and Mr. Wisdom Gidisu. The President and Vice President were expected to arrive later in the day to offer their condolences to the family.

The passing of Bernard Aborkugya Mensah has left a void in the community, with many remembering him for his dedication and gentle nature.
