The Spirit of La Verne Awards recently celebrated ten recipients who embody the core values of spirituality, cultural understanding, and community engagement. The awards, sponsored by various campus offices, honor leaders, innovators, mentors, and community champions who exemplify these values.
Started about a decade ago, the annual recognition event recognizes individuals from different sectors of the campus community. This year’s awardees include students, faculty, and staff/administration members who have made significant contributions to the University of La Verne.
Among the student awardees are Naakoshi Imhotep (Legal Studies ’24), Gabriel Palacios Paz (Physics ’24), and Nadeen Mohammad (Biology ’24). Faculty members recognized include Jason Neidleman, PhD (Professor, Political Science) and Veronica Esconfrey-Runnels, EdD (Associate Professor and Chair, Educational Counseling & School Psychology Program).
Staff and administration members who were honored include Victoria Aleman (Director, ROC Ontario), Brooke Grasso Lavin (Academic Advisor, College of Arts and Sciences), Randa N. Jouzi, EdD (Academic Advisor, Associate Director MBA, College of Business), Savanah Garcia (Director, Academic Success Center), and Eugene Shang (Director, Residence Life and Student Conduct).
The Spirit of La Verne Awards serve as a testament to the dedication and commitment of these individuals to upholding the values of the University of La Verne. The event highlights the importance of recognizing and celebrating those who make a positive impact on the campus community.
