Lake City senior Maddy Nesbit secured her third consecutive regional title in girls singles at the 5A Region 1 tournament, defeating Maddie Hunt of Coeur d’Alene in a thrilling championship match. Nesbit’s coach, Jandi Stowell, praised her determination and grit throughout the season, highlighting her improvement as a competitor since placing fourth at state in 2023.

In the boys singles category, Coeur d’Alene’s Connor Judson emerged victorious, while the girls doubles team of Julia Johnson and Camden Cotant also claimed a regional title for the Vikings. Post Falls’ Carson Hunter and Isaiah Robinson clinched the boys doubles title after a tough battle against Lewiston’s Ryan Carper and Cayden Beehler.

Coeur d’Alene dominated the team scores, securing both the boys and girls team titles for the second consecutive year. The combined team scores placed Coeur d’Alene in the top spot, followed by Lewiston, Lake City, and Post Falls.

With the regional tournament wrapped up, all eyes are now on the state competition set to take place at the Boise Racquet Club next Friday and Saturday. The stage is set for Nesbit, Judson, and other talented players to showcase their skills and compete for top honors at the state level.
