Lancour named Golfer of the Year in the Great Northern Conference | Local News, Sports, Employment

Escanaba High School senior Bryson Lancour is not only graduating this week, but he is also celebrating being named the Great Northern Conference boys golf Player of the Year for the 2024 season. Lancour’s outstanding performance on the golf course earned him a total of 66 points, securing the prestigious title.

Despite Lancour’s individual success, the Escanaba boys golf team finished in second place in the GNC standings with 31 points. The team narrowly missed out on the top spot, with Marquette claiming the 2024 boys’ golf GNC title with 32 points. Menominee, Gladstone, and Kingsford rounded out the standings in third, fourth, and fifth place, respectively.

In addition to Lancour’s Player of the Year honor, his teammates Graham Johnson and Shane Wallin, along with Gladstone’s Deegan Miron and Matt Meyer, were recognized with Second-team All-Conference honors for their impressive performances throughout the season.

On the girls’ side, Escanaba also had a strong showing, finishing in second place with 26 points. Kingsford took home the 2024 girls title with 30 points. Escanaba’s Kamrie Scott stood out with her performance, earning First-Team All-GNC honors with 81.5 points.

Overall, the GNC boys and girls golf competitions showcased some exceptional talent, with players from various schools demonstrating their skills on the course. Congratulations to all the players who received honors for their hard work and dedication to the sport.
