Buckeye Local Softball Shuts Out Harrison Central
CADIZ — Buckeye Local’s softball team put on a dominant performance on Saturday, shutting out Harrison Central 5-0. The win improved the Panthers’ record to 2-2 and provided first-year head coach Katie Beeman with plenty of positives to reflect on.
The game marked the first time all season that Buckeye Local had its full complement of starters available, and they made the most of it. The Panthers scored all five of their runs in a key fourth inning, taking advantage of timely hitting and a few Harrison Central errors.
One of the standout performers of the game was freshman pitcher Karlie Lander, who struck out 13 batters in just her second varsity start. Lander’s command of the strike zone kept the Huskies off balance and off the base paths throughout the game.
In addition to Lander’s strong pitching performance, the Panthers played mistake-free softball, with no errors on the scoreboard. This clean defense played a crucial role in keeping Harrison Central off the scoreboard.
Offensively, Buckeye Local capitalized on opportunities, with key hits from players like Maddy Roset and Tatum Walker contributing to the five-run victory.
The win sets the Panthers up for a road game against Monroe Central, while Harrison Central will face Indian Creek in their next matchup. With the momentum from this shutout victory, Buckeye Local looks to continue their winning ways in the games ahead.
