Latest Update on Ukraine-Russia Conflict: Russia Launches Ballistic Missile, Causing ‘Large Fire’ in Port City | World News

Ukraine’s struggle against Russian forces continues as the US debates military aid package

It has been a year since Ukraine’s anticipated spring counteroffensive against Russia fell short of expectations. Despite increased military support from the West, Ukraine was unable to push back Russian forces and recapture occupied territory. Military analyst Sean Bell attributes this setback to the delayed approval of a multi-billion dollar aid package by the US Congress.

According to Bell, Ukraine’s defense has been resilient, but the lack of timely support has allowed Russia to gain momentum and impact Ukrainian morale. The question now is whether the US decision to provide $60 billion in military aid will turn the tide in Ukraine’s favor.

Bell warns that Russia may take advantage of the current situation to make further advances this summer. He believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin is preparing for a long war, counting on Western support for Ukraine to diminish over time.

Despite the stark contrast in military capabilities between Russia and Ukraine, Bell remains hopeful that a strategic breakthrough by Russia is not inevitable. He references Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s plea for Western allies to defend Ukraine as they did Israel, suggesting that Ukraine deserves the same level of support.

The hesitation of Western powers to intervene decisively in the conflict has emboldened Putin, making him a more significant threat to the West in the future. Despite the massive military aid package from the US, Ukraine is facing a challenging spring and summer ahead. The situation remains precarious, with the outcome of the conflict hanging in the balance.
