Lawyers claim assistant murdered CEO in US to conceal $400k theft and avoid breakup with girlfriend

Tyrese Haspil, the personal assistant to tech CEO Fahim Saleh, is currently on trial for the brutal murder of his boss in a case that has shocked the nation. Haspil’s defence claims that he committed the crime out of a “crime of passion” after embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from Saleh, as reported by The New York Post.

Saleh had reportedly discovered the theft but chose not to press charges, giving Haspil the opportunity to repay the stolen money. However, Haspil allegedly continued to steal and was facing renewed threats of legal action from Saleh.

Prosecutors believe that Haspil meticulously planned the murder, using a taser to incapacitate Saleh before dismembering his body. Evidence presented in court includes a cleaning product tag linked to a taser purchased by Haspil and found at the crime scene.

Despite claiming emotional distress and a traumatic childhood as a defence, prosecutors argue that Haspil used Saleh’s stolen funds to lavish gifts on a new girlfriend just days after the murder.

If convicted of first-degree murder, Haspil faces life in prison. His defence team is hoping for a manslaughter conviction with a lighter sentence due to his alleged emotional state.

The trial has revealed chilling details of the alleged killing, with prosecutors stating that Haspil incapacitated Saleh with a taser, stabbed him, and then dismembered his body, including decapitation.
