Job description: LightFeather is currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lead Software Security Developer to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing software applications, services, and systems that meet stringent security standards. This role demands a proactive approach to staying current with the latest technologies and methodologies in software development, ensuring all developed software is secure, robust, and efficient.This Position is Primarily Remote with a Possibility of Occasional On-Site Work in the DC Metro area.Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop software applications, services, and systems including user-facing and back-end services.
  • Manage source code using industry version control best practices.
  • Research new techniques and technologies to stay current in software development methodologies and tools.
  • Utilize code validation tools to ensure source code is valid, properly structured, secure, and compatible with various browsers, devices, or operating systems.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define needs/specifications and develop proposed solutions.
  • Integrate developed software applications into the operational baseline.
  • Perform test-driven development utilizing strong unit testing techniques.
  • Modify or enhance existing software to correct errors, adapt to new hardware, upgrade interfaces, and improve performance.
  • Create technical models, architectural artifacts, and/or prototypes including physical, interface, logical, or data models.
  • Share actionable information with colleagues and leadership; engage with the community as a resident expert.
  • Prepare reports and consult with customers or stakeholders to advise on technical issues and provide operational support.
  • Develop DevSecOps (CI/CD) pipelines and incorporate security protocols while deploying infrastructure as code (IaC).

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • US Citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance; previous or active DHS ICE clearance is preferred.
  • 9 years of IT security (Cybersecurity) experience with a Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field, or 11+ years of IT security (Cybersecurity) experience without a degree.
  • Certified Application Security Engineer (CASE), or Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional (CSSLP).
  • Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Certification, Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP).
  • AWS Certified Solutions Architect Professional, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer Professional.
  • Professional experience with programming languages such as Java, Python, JavaScript.
  • Proficiency in developing and managing IT or software governance policy.
  • Extensive experience with the software development lifecycle (SDLC), including agile methodologies.
  • Demonstrated experience in building web APIs using standards such as NIST SP 800-204.
  • Experience with DevSecOps pipeline tools (JIRA, automated testing/deployments).
  • Experience in cloud computing and understanding of its applications related to security.
  • Experience with performing Security Control Assessment in compliance with NIST SP 800- 37, NIST SP 800-53, NIST SP 800-53A, and other NIST 800 guide series.
