Lee Canyon and Brian Head Resorts Extend Ski Season into May
Snow enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Lee Canyon and Brian Head Resorts have announced the extension of their ski and snowboard seasons into May for the second consecutive year. This decision comes after a recent snowfall that blanketed the resorts with fresh powder.
Brian Head Resort, located near Cedar City, Utah, received 10 inches of new snow, while Lee Canyon Resort saw 6 inches fall. Brian Head has accumulated an impressive 306 inches of snow this season, with Lee Canyon not far behind at 221 inches.
Lee Canyon will kick off its third “Spring Session” from Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5, operating from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Resort officials have indicated that weekend sessions will continue as long as weather conditions permit. The Bluebird chairlift, catering to intermediate and advanced terrain, will be in operation during this period, along with other base area amenities such as the Lee Canyon Sports and Pro Shop, Brewin Burro coffee shop, Bristlecone Bar, and Sky Deck. Visitors can purchase lift tickets in advance on the resort’s website.
Meanwhile, Brian Head Resort will extend its season by adding an extra weekend of skiing and riding from Friday, May 10, through Sunday, May 12. Originally scheduled to close on May 5, the resort’s decision to extend the season will delight snow enthusiasts looking to squeeze in a few more runs.
Both resorts experienced a slow start to the season due to dry conditions in November and December. However, with the recent snowfall and favorable weather conditions, skiers and snowboarders can look forward to enjoying an extended season on the slopes. Last season, Lee Canyon set a record with 262 inches of snowfall and extended its season into May.
