Left Lane Hospitality is making waves in Savannah, Georgia with its latest project, the transformation of the historic Manger Building into the Recess Hotel & Club. This new venture comes on the heels of the successful debut of Hotel Bardo, showcasing the company’s commitment to revitalizing and reimagining iconic spaces.
Originally built as Hotel Savannah in 1912, the Manger Building has a rich history that includes a stint as the Manger Hotel in 1954 before being converted into an office building in the late ’70s. Now, in early 2026, it will return to its roots as a luxurious lifestyle hotel and clubhouse, offering 221 keys and a host of amenities for guests and locals alike.
The design of Recess Hotel & Club is a collaboration with Atelier Pond, known for their innovative and immersive interiors. The space will feature a retro-futurist aesthetic, incorporating natural wood, marble, and tile to create a tactile and visually stunning environment. The heart of the hotel will be its clubhouse spaces, spread across multiple levels and connected by a central staircase, creating a dynamic and inviting atmosphere.
Guests at Recess can look forward to a range of dining options, including the classic French brasserie Le Flâneur, the hidden gem Servery for quick bites, the elegant Lobby Bar, and the rooftop oasis Kilter with a pool and garden. The property will also boast the Annex, a two-story event space that doubles as a clubhouse for gatherings and features an open-kitchen concept called Coterie.
Accommodations at Recess will include 136 guestrooms, 23 suites, and 62 bunk rooms, catering to a variety of travelers. Each guest floor will also feature a Rumpus Room, a communal space for socializing with lounge seating, TVs, and vending machines, adding a touch of fun and community to the guest experience.
In addition to the hotel amenities, Recess will also be home to Saltgrass, Left Lane’s wellness brand. This expansive space will offer a biohacking lounge, sound temple, steam room, sauna, cold plunge, fitness facility, and activities studio, providing guests with a holistic approach to wellness and relaxation.
Jon Kully, managing partner at Left Lane, expressed his excitement for the project, stating, “We are driven by a commitment to the community and each of our hotel’s respective histories, striving to deliver nostalgic, layered spaces that inspire exploration and offer an authentic sense of place. We’re building Recess as a magnetic cultural hub where the local community and travelers can create and find real-life connection in their very own clubhouse.”
With the transformation of the Manger Building into the Recess Hotel & Club, Left Lane Hospitality is once again proving its dedication to creating unique and immersive experiences for guests. The project is set to breathe new life into this historic space and become a vibrant hub for both locals and travelers seeking a one-of-a-kind stay in Savannah.
