Reading Time: < 1 minute

Reese Witherspoon is set to bring back the iconic character of Elle Woods in a new series titled “Elle” on Amazon’s Prime Video. The series will serve as an origin story for Elle Woods, following her as a high school student in the 1990s. The announcement was made by Amazon MGM Studios head Jennifer Salke, Witherspoon, and even Bruiser the dog at Amazon’s first-ever upfront presentation.

Witherspoon, who will also executive produce the series through her Hello Sunshine banner, expressed her excitement for the project, stating, “Fans will get to know how Elle Woods navigated her world as a teenager with her distinct personality and ingenuity, in ways that only our beloved Elle could do.” The logline for the series reads, “Elle follows Elle Woods in high school as we learn about the life experiences that shaped her into the iconic young woman we came to know and love in the first Legally Blonde film.”

The collaboration between Hello Sunshine and Prime Video continues with this series, following their previous projects like “Daisy Jones and the Six” and “Something From Tiffany’s.” Vernon Sanders, head of television for Amazon MGM Studios, expressed his excitement for bringing Elle Woods’ origin story to global Prime Video customers, calling the show “completely undeniable.”

Production for “Elle” will be handled by Hello Sunshine and Amazon MGM Studios, with no casting announcements yet for the teenage version of Elle Woods. Fans of the Legally Blonde franchise can look forward to diving deeper into the beloved character’s backstory in this upcoming series.
