Saginaw Heritage senior Lexi Ringley has made headlines by breaking the school record for points in a season and earning Associated Press Division 1 girls basketball honors. Ringley, a standout player at 5-foot-10, averaged an impressive 19 points, 5.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game, leading Heritage to a 14-11 record and a district championship.
Ringley’s stellar performance on the court also saw her lead the Saginaw Valley League in scoring and break Moira Joiner’s single-season scoring record at Heritage. Her achievements have not gone unnoticed, as she was named to the all-state second team alongside Midland Dow coach Kyle Theisen.
Theisen, who led Dow to a 22-4 record and a district championship, also received recognition for his coaching prowess. The Associated Press announced the Division 1 Girls Basketball All-State team, with Summer Davis from West Bloomfield named Player of the Year and Jason Wilkins from Belleville and Bill Ryan from Temperance-Bedford named Coaches of the Year.
Ringley’s inclusion in the all-state second team is a testament to her hard work and dedication to the sport. As she looks forward to playing for Rochester University next season, her record-breaking season at Saginaw Heritage will be remembered as a highlight in her basketball career. Congratulations to Lexi Ringley and Kyle Theisen on their well-deserved honors in the world of high school girls basketball.
