Lifestyle Changes Can Prevent and Reverse Diabetes, Study Finds

A recent study has found that lifestyle changes can play a significant role in preventing and even reversing diabetes. The study, which focused on personalized counseling for participants, showed promising results in controlling blood sugar levels and reducing the risk of developing diabetes.

The counseling provided to participants was tailored to their individual needs and abilities. For example, individuals who spent long hours sitting at a desk were encouraged to take short walks throughout the day, while older adults were given gentle exercise recommendations such as daily walking or yoga. These personalized recommendations made it more likely for participants to adhere to the lifestyle changes suggested to them.

The intervention group in the study followed specific activities aimed at improving their health. This included engaging in 150 minutes of walking per week, adjusting exercise routines based on age and profession, and making dietary changes such as reducing portion sizes and limiting added sugars and fats while increasing fiber intake.

The results of the study were promising, with a significantly lower rate of prediabetes progressing to diabetes in the intervention group compared to the control group.
