CoreLogic Research Director Tim Lawless says “lifestyle trends” have contributed to the increasing house prices in Brisbane.

Reports show Brisbane is now the second most expensive Australian city, only behind Sydney.

“There is this trend of more southerners coming into Southeast Queensland,” Mr Lawless told Sky News Australia.

“It used to be affordability, we can’t really argue that any longer but there’s also … lifestyle trends.

“Melbourne prices are now about 7 per cent lower than they are in Brisbane.”
