Little League coach escapes unscathed after being shocked by electricity during game | News, Sports, Employment

A Little League Baseball game in Loyalsock Township was abruptly halted on Sunday afternoon after a coach received an electric shock from an energized fence at Bruce E. Henry Park. The incident occurred around 4:20 p.m. when high winds dislodged a component on a transformer, causing a powerline to come in contact with a support wire and electrify the nearby fence where the coach was leaning.

Fortunately, the coach, whose identity remains undisclosed, was unharmed and declined medical treatment. Firefighters quickly arrived at the scene and used a specialized tool to confirm the presence of an electrical current in the fence. The players were safely moved to another field while awaiting the arrival of a PPL crew to resolve the issue.

The game resumed around 5:30 p.m., but shortly after, a severe thunderstorm hit the region, downing trees and powerlines in various neighborhoods. In Muncy, a tree knocked out electricity to several homes, while in Montoursville, a lightning strike caused a dryer fire on Cherry Street.

Emergency responders received close to 50 storm-related calls, with reports of property damage and power outages throughout the area. Despite the chaos caused by the storm, no injuries were reported in connection with the incidents. The community came together to address the aftermath of the storm, highlighting the resilience and unity of the local residents in the face of adversity.
