Little Nets Take Second Place at State Tennis Tournament

Sequim High School’s Garrett Little has once again proven himself as a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court, finishing his prep career with a remarkable third consecutive top-three finish at the state 2A tennis tournament. Little, a senior who recently signed with Westmont College, showcased his skills at the tournament by going 3-1 and securing a second-place finish for the second year in a row.

Throughout the tournament, Little faced tough competition and had to battle through some challenging matches. He started strong with a straight-set victory over Owen Villegas of Sedro Woolley and then went on to win a thrilling three-set match against Lucas Walburn of Columbia River. In the semifinals, Little defeated Jack Wang of Sammamish in straight sets to secure his spot in the finals.

Although Little ultimately fell short in the championship match against Cole Balen of Archbishop Murphy, his impressive performance throughout the tournament solidified his status as one of the top tennis players in the state. With an undefeated record in more than 40 singles matches and multiple top-three state placings, Little leaves behind a legacy of excellence at SHS.

Despite the tough competition, Little’s teammate Calleigh Thompson also showed determination and skill in her first state tournament appearance. While Thompson faced tough opponents and fell short in her matches, her performance at the tournament highlights her potential for future success in the sport.
