Local Baseball: Wesner leads Rangers to victory over Dragons – Brainerd Dispatch

In a thrilling baseball matchup, the Crosby-Ironton Rangers dominated the Pine City Dragons with an impressive 8-0 victory on Monday, May 13. Keyon Wesner led the charge on the mound, striking out five batters and allowing only one hit in 5.1 innings to secure the win for the Rangers. Jacob Millsop had a stellar performance at the plate, going 3-4 with a double, two runs, and two RBIs, while Wesner contributed three RBIs, a double, and a single. Max Erickson also made his mark with two hits for C-I.

Over in Pine River, the Pine River-Backus Tigers put on a show as they defeated the Red Lake Warriors with a commanding 26-0 victory. Chance Abraham stood out with a 2-3 performance, including a triple, three runs, and five RBIs. Ozzy Switajewski also had a strong game, going 2-3 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs. Jonathan Shogren shined on the mound, striking out six batters in three innings pitched.

In other baseball action, the Pierz Pioneers secured a 6-3 win over the Mora Mustangs, with Reese Young leading the charge with a 2-3 performance, three runs scored, and four stolen bases. Brayden Haberman pitched a gem, striking out 10 batters in six innings. Weston Woitalla and Bo Woitalla also made key contributions for Pierz.

Despite a tough loss, the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders put up a fight against the Long Prairie-Grey Eagle Thunder, with Shawn Schmitz and Kobe Hinzmann each recording two hits in the 12-2 defeat.
