Basil’s Sports Bar and Grill in Weirton is hosting a unique drawing for a quilt made from Crown Royal bags, with all proceeds going to benefit the CHANGE Inc. Comfort House Child Advocacy Center. The quilt, created by local craftsperson Carla Morris, features 45 bags with a golden snake skin pattern and champagne bubble stitching.
Pete Basil, the owner of the restaurant, explained that the idea for the quilt came from the accumulation of Crown Royal bags over the years. Inspired by a story of someone creating a quilt out of T-shirts, Basil and his son sought out Morris to bring their vision to life.
The drawing for the quilt will take place on June 29, with tickets priced at $10 each. If all 1,000 tickets are sold, Comfort House will receive $10,000 to cover non-grant-funded expenses. Comfort House provides a safe and supportive environment for children during investigations of abuse or neglect, offering forensic interviews and other services.
The collaboration between Basil’s Sports Bar and Grill and Comfort House highlights the importance of supporting local causes and giving back to the community. With the success of this drawing, Basil hopes to continue supporting different causes in the future. Don’t miss your chance to win this unique quilt and support a great cause!
