Travis “The Terror” Clark made a dramatic return to the professional boxing ring on Saturday night during “Spring Beatings” inside the former W.Va. State Penitentiary in Moundsville. However, his comeback was short-lived as he suffered a TKO just 1:56 into the second round of his heavyweight bout against Paul “Zeus” Zalus.
Clark, a Belmont County native who has been training in Los Angeles, took a standing 8 count in the first round after being knocked down by Zalus. Despite showing resilience, another body shot in the second round sent him crumpling to the mat in a neutral corner, where he couldn’t answer the referee’s 10-count.
It was a disappointing outcome for Clark, who fell to 14-3 in his career, while Zalus improved to 5-3 and ended a three-fight losing streak. The fight showcased the unpredictability and intensity of professional boxing, with both fighters giving their all in the ring.
On the undercard, local fighters Hunter “The Polish Hammer” Markovich and Michael Kidwell secured victories by unanimous decisions. Markovich, a three-time Ohio Valley Toughman champion, defeated Tommy “The Popular” Pendland in a three-round heavyweight bout, while Kidwell showcased his skills in a junior middleweight bout.
Overall, “Spring Beatings” provided an action-packed night of boxing for fans in Moundsville, with a mix of local talent and seasoned fighters delivering thrilling performances in the ring.
