The baseball season in Ohio is heating up as the OHSAA Regional Semifinals are set to take place on Thursday. Among the teams competing are St. Clairsville, Indian Creek, and Barnesville, each vying for a shot at the state championship.

In the Division II Regional Semis, St. Clairsville and Indian Creek will face off for the fourth time this season. St. Clairsville has emerged victorious in all three previous meetings, including a win in the OVAC 4A championship. Indian Creek’s head coach, Mike Cottis, acknowledges the tough challenge ahead but is confident in his team’s abilities.

For St. Clairsville, the key to success has been consistency in pitching, defense, and timely hitting. Indian Creek, on the other hand, has seen a turnaround at the plate, which has propelled them into the postseason.

Meanwhile, Barnesville is gearing up to take on Minford in the Division III Regional Semis. Barnesville’s head coach, DJ Butler, recognizes the challenge Minford poses but is proud of his team’s accomplishments thus far.

Both St. Clairsville and Barnesville have players named to the All-Eastern District teams, showcasing the talent on these teams.

Thursday’s games will be historic for Indian Creek, as they make their first regional tournament appearance in school history. The stakes are high for all teams involved, with a shot at the state championship on the line.

As the baseball season reaches its climax, fans can expect intense matchups and thrilling moments as these teams battle it out on the diamond. Stay tuned for more updates as the tournament progresses.
