Battle Alley Brewing Company in Holly has made a heartwarming donation to the Holly Fire Department, providing them with three Carter Kits to assist children on the autism spectrum during emergencies. These kits, containing items clinically proven to comfort children with autism, were inspired by a recent article in the Tri-County Times about a similar donation to the Fenton Fire Department.

David Elliot, the owner of Battle Alley Brewing, shared that after reviewing the Carter Kits with his staff, who have personal experience with autism, they decided to include them in their monthly charity program. Holly Fire Chief Jeremy Watson expressed interest in receiving the kits, and on May 22, Battle Alley Brewing made the donation.

Watson expressed his gratitude for the donation, stating that the kits are much needed in their line of work. The purpose of the Carter Kits is to help first responders communicate, calm, and treat children with autism during emergencies. The kits also come with a link to help train first responders in their use.

The creation of Carter Kits was inspired by Carter Severs, a 9-year-old boy with autism from Frankenmuth, Michigan. These kits have made a significant impact, with nearly 18,000 kits distributed in various locations.

The kits cost approximately $80 each, and Battle Alley Brewing Company supports local charities through their “Local Love Tap” program. By donating a portion of sales from a specific beer, they are able to give back to the community and support important causes like providing Carter Kits to first responders.
