A tragic incident unfolded on a Singapore Airlines flight as one person lost their life and dozens more were injured due to severe turbulence. The Boeing 777-300ER was en route from London’s Heathrow Airport to Singapore when it encountered unexpected turbulence about 90 minutes before reaching its destination.

The flight, SQ 321, was diverted to Bangkok where emergency services were on standby to assist the injured passengers and crew. Sadly, a 73-year-old man from Great Britain lost his life in the incident, while seven others were critically injured and many more suffered minor to moderate injuries.

Passenger Dzafran Azmir, a 28-year-old student, described the terrifying experience of the sudden turbulence, which caused people to be thrown into the ceiling of the aircraft. The impact was so severe that some passengers hit their heads on overhead compartments, breaking through the cabin fixtures.

Singapore Airlines expressed their condolences to the family of the deceased and stated that their priority is to provide assistance to all passengers and crew affected by the incident. The aircraft, which was scheduled to land in Singapore, instead made an emergency landing in Thailand.

Boeing also offered their condolences to the family of the victim and expressed support for Singapore Airlines during this difficult time. Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the turbulence and ensure the safety of future flights.
