Local Olympian star unveils refurbished Carlton Forum gym for first look

Three-time Olympian Andy Turner made a special appearance at the Carlton Forum Leisure Centre to open the newly refurbished fitness studio, encouraging local residents to get active and prioritize their health and well-being.

The former 110m hurdles star, hailing from Nottinghamshire, cut the ribbon on the revamped studio, which was previously a squash court but has now been transformed into a state-of-the-art fitness space. The project was made possible in part by funding from the UK Government’s Shared Prosperity Fund, with the council receiving £14,406 towards the refurbishment.

Named the D.O.S.E Studio, the new fitness space is equipped with top-of-the-line equipment such as rowers, ski ergs, kettlebells, and more. The studio’s modern look is enhanced by new LED ambient lighting, updated decor, and sleek flooring.

One of the most exciting additions to the studio is the MyZone wearable fitness technology, allowing users to track their health and fitness progress in real-time by monitoring their heart rate. This innovative feature aims to foster a sense of community among users, encouraging friendly competition and mutual support in achieving fitness goals.

Gedling Borough Council’s Portfolio Holder for Lifestyles, Health, and Wellbeing, Councillor Henry Wheeler, expressed his excitement about the investment in the leisure facilities, emphasizing the importance of physical activity and social engagement in improving residents’ overall health.
