Reading Time: < 1 minute

Two local students, Ella Taylor of Tyro Middle School and Jackson Ward of North Iredell Middle School, have been awarded Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships from EnergyUnited. Ella will attend the Wolfpack Women’s Basketball Camp at N.C. State University, while Jackson will attend the Carolina Basketball School at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, both on full scholarships.

Marilyn Lineberger, corporate communications manager for EnergyUnited, expressed her excitement about Ella and Jackson being selected as the 2024 Sports Camp Scholarship winners. She highlighted the cooperative’s commitment to investing in students and communities across their service area.

The students were chosen based on interviews and their applications, which showcased their academic achievements, extracurricular activities, and written essays. During the overnight camps, they will stay in dorms on campus and receive coaching from collegiate coaches and current and former student-athletes to develop fundamental basketball skills.

The N.C. State women’s camp will be led by head coach Wes Moore and his staff, while the UNC camp will be led by head coach Hubert Davis and his team. More than 50 students from across the state will attend basketball camps on Touchstone Energy Sports Camp Scholarships this year, demonstrating the electric cooperatives’ dedication to supporting education and community programs.

EnergyUnited Electric Membership Corporation is the largest electric cooperative in North Carolina, serving 140,137 member connections in 19 counties. Visit energyunited.com to learn more about their energy services and community programs.
