Local teachers recognized by Rotary Club of Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara County Education Office

The Rotary Club of Santa Barbara and Santa Barbara County Education Office came together to honor four exceptional teachers for their outstanding contributions during the 2023-24 academic year. The recipients of the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara’s Teacher Recognition Awards were Sherri Bryan, Patty Jo “P.J.” Carmean, Chris Cunningham, and Shawna Ray.

Each of the honorees received a plaque and a $1,000 check for classroom needs. County Superintendent of Schools Susan Salcido expressed gratitude to the Rotary Club for their dedication to education and support of exemplary teachers. She commended the honorees for their commitment to creating a positive learning environment for all students and serving their communities well.

Dan Herlinger, Chair of Vocational Service at the Rotary Club of Santa Barbara, highlighted the club’s 38-year tradition of recognizing local teachers who go above and beyond in their vocational service. The awards are designed to acknowledge educators who exceed expectations and inspire positive change in their communities.
