Michigan Tech Huskies forward Logan Pietila has signed a professional contract with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the American Hockey League for the upcoming 2024-25 season. Pietila, a fifth-year player, will join the team immediately on an amateur tryout agreement, adding depth to the Penguins’ roster as they push for a playoff spot.

Pietila, a native of Howell, Michigan, has had an impressive collegiate career with the Huskies, appearing in 180 games and tying the all-time games played record. He has recorded 98 career points, with 45 goals and 53 assists, showcasing his offensive prowess on the ice. As a senior, Pietila had a career-best season with 29 points, including 13 goals and 16 assists.

In addition to his on-ice success, Pietila has also excelled academically, earning recognition as a CCHA Scholar-Athlete and a member of the CCHA All-Academic Team. He has received multiple team awards during his time at Michigan Tech, highlighting his dedication to both his studies and his athletic performance.

The Penguins, who are affiliated with the NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins, are currently fourth in the AHL Atlantic Division with a 33-22 record. Pietila will join former Michigan Tech teammate Matthew Quercia on the roster, reuniting with a familiar face as he embarks on his professional hockey career.
