Retailer London Drugs is in the process of rebuilding its data infrastructure with the assistance of leading third-party cybersecurity experts to bring its operations back online after a recent cybersecurity incident. The incident, which occurred on Sunday, forced all of the company’s more than 80 stores across B.C., Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba to shut down for five days.
In a statement released by the Richmond, B.C.-based company, it was revealed that teams have been working tirelessly to review billions of lines of data and code, making progress in the restoration process. Despite the significant impact on operations, London Drugs reassured customers that there is no evidence of customer databases being compromised, including those of pharmacy patients and LDExtra members.
Company president Clint Mahlman expressed gratitude for the support and understanding shown by customers and suppliers during this challenging time. He mentioned that they are exploring the possibility of reopening with partial service to assist customers, especially those in need of prescriptions.
London Drugs advised customers to contact their local store or pharmacy via phone or in person during business hours for immediate support. The company emphasized that the restoration process is being conducted in a methodical, safe, and responsible manner to ensure the protection of all customers and the London Drugs community.
