Longboat Key residents to learn new lifestyle health techniques from local doctor

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Dr. Coeurlida Ashby, a former doctor at an internal medicine practice, is now on a mission to revolutionize healthcare through lifestyle medicine. After realizing the limitations of traditional medicine in allowing patients the time needed to heal, Ashby turned to health and fitness as a more holistic approach to wellness.

Ashby’s journey led her to discover lifestyle medicine, a concept that focuses on promoting healthy fitness and nutrition to prevent chronic diseases. She will be sharing her expertise at an exclusive presentation at The Paradise Center on June 3, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

During the presentation, Ashby will delve into the six pillars of lifestyle medicine, which include sleep, nutrition, fitness, social connections, mental health, and toxins in the body. She will discuss how these lifestyle changes can improve overall health, boost energy, manage stress, and prevent and reverse chronic diseases, with a focus on heart disease and metabolic health.

With a medical degree from Yale University School of Medicine and a certification in lifestyle medicine, Ashby has become a leader in the field. She now runs her own practice, Conscious Health, in Sarasota, and hopes to inspire Longboaters to consider their everyday habits and how they impact their health.

Ashby believes that lifestyle medicine is a missing resource in the community and sees The Paradise Center as the perfect setting for promoting wellness. She is open to providing consultations at the center’s Medical Suite for those interested in incorporating lifestyle changes for better health.
