Lock Haven Men’s Basketball Team Makes History with Record-Breaking Season

LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven University is known for its dominant wrestling program, but this year, it was the men’s basketball team that stole the spotlight with a historic season. The Bald Eagles finished with a remarkable 21-8 record, securing the No. 1 seed in the PSAC Eastern Division for the first time in program history.

Head coach Mike Nestor reflected on the team’s success, attributing it to the players’ hard work and dedication. Despite facing challenges early in the season with the loss of star guard Eli Washington to injury, the team rallied together and found their stride.

One player who emerged as a standout performer was sophomore guard Justice Shoats. Shoats, who stepped up in Washington’s absence, showcased his skills on the court, averaging over 20 points per game and nearly five assists per game. His stellar performance earned him the title of PSAC East Player of the Year.

In addition to Shoats, newcomers Dyson Harward and Colin Jones made significant contributions to the team’s success. Harward, a transfer from Lycoming College, excelled as the starting center, while Jones, a local standout from Central Mountain High School, provided a spark off the bench.
