Seabury Hall’s Tyler Loree and Baldwin High’s Anessa Riglos emerged victorious at the Maui Interscholastic League individual golf championships held at Makena Golf Club. Loree, a junior, clinched the boys title with a 3-under-par total, securing his second consecutive championship win. He expressed his excitement at the competitive nature of the MIL and the thrill of winning back-to-back titles.
On the girls’ side, Riglos dominated the competition, finishing with a 15-stroke lead to claim her second straight MIL girls individual title. Riglos credited her consistency and improved putting for her success this year, highlighting the importance of her performance in the tournament.
Both Loree and Riglos will now set their sights on the David S. Ishii Foundation/HHSAA state tournament, where they will look to continue their winning streaks. Loree, who has committed to play golf at UCLA, is determined to capture the state title after finishing as the runner-up last year.
Riglos, on the other hand, is motivated to follow in the footsteps of former MIL champions who have gone on to play NCAA Division I golf. Her impressive performance at the MIL championships has given her the confidence to pursue her goal of playing at the collegiate level.
