Legendary entertainment anchor and reporter in Los Angeles, Sam Rubin, has passed away at the age of 64, leaving behind a legacy of impactful journalism and heartfelt connections with his colleagues and viewers.

KTLA News announced the unexpected death of Rubin on Friday, revealing that he suffered a fatal heart attack. The news came as a shock to many, including his longtime friend and colleague, KTLA morning anchor Eric Spillman, who expressed his grief over losing someone he considered one of his best friends after working together for 33 years.

Rubin had been a staple at KTLA since 1991, known for his engaging interviews with actors and musicians both in the studio and on various red carpets around the world. His passion for broadcasting was evident to all who knew him, with Spillman describing him as being “born to be a broadcaster.”

In addition to his work at KTLA, Rubin was also a founding member of the Broadcast Film Critics Association and made appearances on international platforms such as BBC television and radio, Triple M radio, and Channel 9 television network in Australia.

Tributes poured in from celebrities and colleagues alike, with actor Ryan Reynolds praising Rubin’s genuine kindness and enthusiasm for his job, while actress Jamie Lee Curtis remembered him as a giant in the local news industry and entertainment world.

Rubin’s final interview was with Jane Seymour, and he is survived by his wife, Leslie, and their four children. His passing has left a void in the world of entertainment journalism, but his impact and legacy will continue to be felt for years to come.
