Lowellville Senior Michael Ballone Dominates Mahoning County Track and Field Championships

Lowellville senior track star Michael Ballone showcased his exceptional talent at the Mahoning County Track and Field Championships on Saturday, winning all three individual events he participated in. Despite his impressive performance, Ballone expressed his dissatisfaction with his times and performances, stating that he still has room for improvement.

Ballone kicked off the day by setting a new meet record in the Division II 110m hurdles with a time of 14.81, breaking a record that had stood since 1979. He followed up this victory with another first-place finish in the 300m hurdles, finishing with a time of 39.93 and once again breaking the meet record.

In the long jump event, Ballone secured his third win of the day with a mark of 19-6, outperforming his competitors by a significant margin. Additionally, Ballone was a last-minute addition to Lowellville’s 4x400m relay team, helping them set a new meet record with a time of 3:28.18.

Despite his success, Ballone remained critical of his performances, citing areas for improvement and emphasizing the team’s potential for success in the upcoming competitions. The Lowellville boys finished second in the team standings at the meet, with Ballone’s exceptional performance contributing significantly to their overall success.
